Description
Welcome to Tulach, from the Gaelic meaning 'hill'. Tulach is a detached cedar wood chalet-style cottage with two bedrooms - a double and a twin. We have just completed a refurbishment over the winter 2015/16. We were always proud of our cosy cottage but we have made changes that enhance the views and have upgraded throughout. Soak in the views from our beautiful extended eat-in kitchen with large windows - with a coffee in the morning and perhaps a wee dram in the evening. The kitchen is fully fitted with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The living room benefits from an open fire, double aspect picture windows, comfy sofa, wifi, TV with satellite channels, DVD (you will find a selection of DVDs and books with a Scottish theme). The views from the living room are also wonderful. A beautiful hard wood floor runs throughout the cottage but is complemented by warm rugs and soft furnishings. The bathroom has also been upgraded, featuring a brand new suite and gorgeous 'Naranja' tiles (as seen on Grand Designs). Outside, there is a large enclosed garden with a gorgeous decked area by the kitchen.
Tulach is situated in Highland Perthshire, in an idyllic location in the hamlet of Glen Fender. We are about one and a half miles from the centre of Blair Atholl, which is just off the A9 (the main road north to Inverness). You will find daily provisions and a number of eating and drinking establishments in Blair Atholl, including a working water mill and the very attractive Atholl Arms. Pitlochry is about 7 miles away with shops and restaurants aplenty. The main train line to Inverness runs through Pitlochry and Blair Atholl and you can take a direct train from London Kings Cross to Pitlochry. Car hire is available in Pitlochry. The closest airport is Edinburgh, approximately 70 miles away.
Tulach is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Indoor and outdoor activities abound, including walking (use our personalised guide detailing walks starting directly from Tulach), golf, cycling, fishing, shooting, canoeing and more extreme sports such as white water rafting. To relax, stroll around Blair Castle with its rich history and beautiful gardens or take a tour to see the local wildlife. The Castle also hosts festivals, Highland games and other events throughout the year. Pitlochry is on the whisky trail, and also home to the renowned Festival Theatre and a large number of cultural and special seasonal events. The ski slopes of the Cairngorms and Glenshee are each about an hour and a quarter away.
